Wednesday, November 16, 2011 TECH TIP - ? ELECTIONS - For the following positions (elected shown):
SUBJECT 1 - At this weeks meeting of the AOSA Phil Sutton will discuss the measurement of water clarity on Lake Wabamun by using a Secchi disk....to be carried out by amateur volunteers - that is to say, us. The term amateur can have a pejorative ring. But in science it retains the meaning of its French root amour, love, for amateurs do science because it's what they love to do. Without remuneration or reward, enthusiastic amateurs survey birds, tag butterflies, measure sunlight, and study transient solar eclipse phenomena. Others count sunspots, discover comets, monitor variable stars, and invent instruments. In addition I hope we will discuss planning for the rest of the winter meetings. |
