Alberta Offshore Sailing Association

Welcome to the Alberta Offshore Sailing Association (AOSA) of Edmonton, Alberta.  We represent northern Alberta sailors who operate a cruising sailboat or power boat equipped with a watertight hatch, a self-draining cockpit, galley, bunks and overnight sleeping accommodations in a cabin.  The goal of the AOSA is to improve cruiser sailing in Alberta through education and by liaising with existing and prospective yacht clubs and related associations.  This web site and distribution list serves our communication needs.  Click here to read AOSA history.
  • Sailors attend monthly meetings during the winter to share knowledge and experiences.  Each meeting focuses on a particular subject with a feature speaker invited.  The subject matter alternates between technical and cruising so there is something of interest for everyone.  The meeting is usually preceded with a lively discussion over grog.
  • We maintain a distribution list to keep sailors abreast of events and to send notifications of monthly meetings.
  • The news is posted on this web site, as it happens, and are notified via the distribution list.
  • The AOSA will host a nautical garage sale each winter when the need is there and a location permits.
  • The AOSA schedules racing & cruising events on Wabamun Lake.
  • boat_show.JPG (51708 bytes)In 2014 the association installed four registered cardinal buoys to mark hazards on Wabamun Lake with code illuminated cardinal buoys.  As of 2015 two are operational at; Coal Point & the reed bed entrance to  Sunshine Bay.
  • The association also sells a laminated chart of Wabamun Lake with GPS coordinates listing the cardinal buoys and other features around the lake.  There are only a few left.
  • AOSA members receive a 10% discount from Cooper Boating Centre along with discounts from other corporations.
  • NEW 2016 - The AOSA now sells a Personalized Carry/Storage Bag with a custom logo.

If you would like a subject discussed at a monthly meeting or want to post something on the AOSA web site then email the web master.    (Site last updated on 09 November, 2018.)
